JA Academics ("we", "us", "our") operates the website jaacademics.com and provides online tutoring services. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep this short and plain so you can actually read it.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly

• Booking and contact: Parent/guardian name, student first name, email address, phone number, grade level, and the subject or service you're inquiring about. Collected when you submit a booking form, contact form, or sign up for a session.
• Payment information: If you pay for a session, payment details are processed by our payment processor (e.g., Stripe or PayPal). We do not store full credit card numbers on our servers.
• Communications: Emails, text messages, and notes related to your tutoring sessions.

Information collected automatically

• Usage data: Standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited, timestamps) for security and basic site analytics.
• Cookies: We use essential cookies to keep you signed in to admin areas and to remember your preferences. We do not currently use third-party advertising or tracking cookies.

Information from Facebook (for our admin staff only)

JA Academics uses Facebook Login for Business so that authorized staff (the page owner) can publish posts to our own Facebook Page from our admin tools. When a staff member connects their Facebook account, we receive:

• Their Facebook user ID and display name (so we can show who is connected).
• A list of Pages they manage, and an access token for the Page they choose to connect.
• The permissions pages_show_list, pages_manage_posts, and pages_read_engagement, used solely to publish posts to the connected Page and read engagement on those posts.

We do not access personal Facebook profiles, friends lists, private messages, or any data unrelated to the connected Page. Public visitors to jaacademics.com do not have their Facebook data collected by us.

2. How We Use Information

• To schedule, deliver, and follow up on tutoring sessions.
• To process payments and send invoices or receipts.
• To respond to inquiries and provide customer support.
• To publish marketing posts to our own Facebook Page (admin staff only).
• To keep the website secure and operating correctly.
• To comply with legal obligations.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:

• Service providers who help us run the business (web hosting, payment processing, email delivery), and only the data they need to perform their service.
• Tutors and staff on your child's tutoring team, on a need-to-know basis.
• Authorities when required by law (subpoena, court order, etc.).

4. How We Store and Protect Information

Your data is stored on secure servers operated by our hosting provider. Sensitive credentials (such as Facebook access tokens and API keys) are stored server-side with restricted file permissions and are never exposed to website visitors. We use HTTPS across the site.

We retain personal information for as long as you have an active relationship with us, plus a reasonable period afterward for accounting, dispute resolution, and legal compliance.

5. Children's Privacy

Our services are designed for use by parents and guardians on behalf of their children, and by adult learners. We do not knowingly collect information directly from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe a child has submitted information to us without consent, please contact us and we will delete it.

6. Your Rights and Choices

• Access, correction, or deletion: Email us to request a copy of your data, correct it, or have it deleted. We respond within 30 days.
• Marketing opt-out: You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in any message.
• Facebook disconnection: Admin staff can disconnect Facebook from the admin panel at any time. You can also revoke access at any time from Facebook Settings → Business Integrations.

7. Data Deletion Requests

To request deletion of any personal data we hold about you, including data obtained via Facebook Login for Business, email academicsja@gmail.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request" and the email address or Facebook display name associated with your data. We will confirm and complete the deletion within 30 days.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated by email to active customers.
